Creating The First Immersive Award Presentation For iF DESIGN AWARD

The new Metaverse Experience "The Landmark of Design Excellence" created for the iF DESIGN AWARD stages all winning projects of 2024. Central to this artistic concept is the iconic iF Design Sculpture, which presents all 75 Gold Awards and acts as the centrepiece in the connection between the different levels of the experience. This immersive Multiplayer Experience is the new iF Design Award Web3 Residence and will additionally be a place for all upcoming virtual design events. It is set to be a virtual place to gather the design community for inspiration and discussion.

A Story of Outstanding Design

Every year the best and most innovative design projects from various disciplines get awarded with the iF DESIGN AWARD. The immersive experience not only sets a stunning stage for those projects but tells the story that lies behind each creative process. A cinematic story CGI trailer introduces the visitor into the virtual world of iF DESIGN.

A virtual award exhibition for all design disciplines

Exploring the awarded projects is the interactive core concept of iF’s virtual exhibition. Around the golden pillar and five unique and individually created halls the visitors will find red and golden cubes – each containing the case study of an awarded project. The halls are assigned to the different design disciplines and provide an intuitive interface to scroll through all projects and even get an optimized reading experience for mobile users.

Game-like Interface Features Allow Fast Travelling

Over 2.500 awards can be explored along six different locations. A simplified map interface provides an on demand overview of the player’s current position and the design disciplines that can be explored. At any time users can select a specific level and immediately get teleported to the requested destination. By reaching on of the plateaus users can either jump on a hoverboard and float around the golden pillar or enter the dedicated award hall.

Full Responsive Browser Based Web Application

This project developed in Unreal Engine 5 using the Pixel Streaming technology to provide a visual high end experience on almost all devices. An integrated JavaScript based user interface allows an optimised viewport and UI layout ranging from 4K monitors to any modern smartphone.

A Place for Upcoming Virtual Design Events.

Following the iF award experience, the Metaverse reopens its gates for several individual days – each granting access for 24 hours to join exclusive conferences and panel talks. The Metaverse virtual panel talks are set to discuss latest and future design trends. The summit gathers builders, entrepreneurs, investors and design experts from all over the world. Visitors can watch the video stream embedded in iF’s virtual environment and parallel to that communicate and discuss by utilising the social features and chat.
